Lorenzo's Poetry

As a Poet, Buford has completed several companion poetry books to go with the Uthra novel series, with such titles as "Laments of a Male Mother, A Serpent In The Tree" and "Poems From The Underworld."

Buford has had a radio poetry show, "Neal's Poetry Corner," at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (SIUE) and has self-published three collections of poetry: "To Be Heard," "Men Don't Cry," and with the release of "Mac's Place", June 10, 1990, was proclaimed Lorenzo Neal Buford Day in Los Angeles by Mayor Tom Bradley. The first two books are in the Vivian G. Harsh Collection of Afro-American History and Literature in the Chicago Public Library and the Alice B. Gardner Rare Book Room in the St. Louis Public Library.

He debuted two poetry performance pieces at the Lhasa Club in Hollywood, "A Crowd of One" and "Men and Women" as well as performed a concert of original songs and poetry in his show "An Evening With Lorenzo. At Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, he was in concert of poetry and song called "Not In My Closet You Don't."

Currently, he is writing a new poetry book called "Urban" and planning a new stage show of poetry, original songs and monologues called "Dark Diva."
